entry doors

while we're on the subject of doors ... 

i guess you could say i have somewhat of a pet peeve about entry door styles not being at all in sync with the rest of the home's architecture.  for example:

i think this is a darling little house that is full of potential.  however, the front door is so much more fussy and formal than the rest of the home.  it really looks out of place to me. 

i would like to see this door instead.

a well thought out entry door is an opportunity to make a strong first impression.  here are some of my favorites:

it's the little things ...

home improvements these days have consisted of gutter work, plumbing repairs, and replacing the old outdoor a/c unit.  i would much rather having something to show for but ultimately i do realize this helps our home become much more efficient. 

(sigh.  i could have a new bathroom by now!)

earlier this week we had a new storm door installed and i'm appreciating it much more than i anticipated.  here is the shot of the old one which i painted black in attempt to give it some saving grace.

it actually locks and doesn't slam shut!  as you can tell, we're all enjoying our new clear view.
