i'm in love ...

... with my new bedroom paint color.

seriously.

have you ever experienced paint color bliss? it looks like this: a brand new 2" angled brush in one hand, a can of "oh-hell-yeah" paint color in the other, and suddenly time stands still.

my master bedroom has consumed the last 4 months of my life. the first step was stripping all four layers of wallpaper that was applied to an un-primed drywall (H-E-L-L). the next (also large) task was priming and patching the walls, attempting to make them as smooth as possible.

i started with a light butter yellow paint on the walls. although the room was clean, light, and airy, it lacked the depth i was looking for.

if you know me at all, you accept that i change wall colors throughout my living space almost as often as i do coats.

this room is far from complete. stay tuned for more ...

a weekend with dad

my dad came this weekend to help on the house. dad is the hardest worker i know. not only that, he can do almost anything when it comes to home projects and repairs. you can imagine my excitement when i found out i had him for TWO whole days! YAY!

our weekend projects consisted of:

1. installing a new storm window

2. painting exterior trim and windows (not all complete but slowly getting there)

3. replacing the dated exterior light fixture @ front door

4. attaching screens to gutters

5. making my headboard frame (I was MOST excited about this)

6. meeting with electricians

7. applying 3rd coat of paint to record cabinet/future bar cabinet

"A Little Paint Will Help Any Old Barn"

"A little paint will help any old barn" is what my grandmother used to say regarding make-up. I've found it to be literal when it comes to the house on Lamar. (BTW, Benjamin Moore's white dove is the best white eva!)

hello 30!

My mom and Mike made a trip to KC to help me with my backyard as a 30th birthday present. (This is important as I hosted a Tri-fecta BBQ party for Taylor, Rich, and I who all turned 30 years old, 3 days apart). We decided upon the local nursery and we all sweated it out on a hot July day - determined to make a sweet transformation.
